MEETINGS
The Oxford Civil Service Board holds regular meetings the last Thursday of the month. The Board may hold special, adjourned, or call meetings at any time. A majority of the members of the Board (3) shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.
Various items are entered on the Agenda and discussed monthly. Minutes of these meetings are taken and recorded as well as business transacted by the Board. The Civil Service Board keeps records of Civil Service employees and respectively their promotions, commendations, transfers, demotions, written reprimands, suspensions, terminations and evaluations.
All records of the Civil Service Board, except those which must be kept confidential for reasons of public policy, shall be open for inspection by any resident of the City of Oxford, Alabama at all reasonable times, after written request have been submitted to and approved by the Mayor.
BOARD
The Civil Service Board was created in 1975 and consists of five members appointed by the State of Alabama Legislature who represent the City of Oxford. All appointees serve terms of six years and take the Constitutional Oath of Office, which is filed in the Office of the Probate Judge. The Chairperson and Secretary are elected at the last regular meeting of each year. The method of election consists of nomination and second from the floor. Current appointees are as follows:
