The Oxford Senior Citizens Center enjoyed a beautiful sunny Monday, June 4, as it held its annual summer hot dog cookout.
More than 30 of the center’s regular visitors were transported to an Oxford Lake pavilion where, wearing their blue “Happy Days”-themed t-shirts, they enjoyed grilled hot dogs and all the fixings.
“This is a day everyone looks forward to,” said center director Hal West. “It’s a chance to get outside, have some good food, and do what the center sees as its main purpose – allow friends, old and new, to get together, visit, and enjoy each other’s company.”
West said the cookout is also open to the city departments and various agencies who provide valuable assistance with the center’s operations.
“It’s our way of expressing gratitude for the invaluable support they provide us with, day in and day out,” West emphasized.
