A new Oxford business can help one show off their favorite teams or even themselves.
Tags and More opened its new location at 919 Snow Street with a ribbon cutting on Jan. 19, offering fast service for customers wanting customized vanity car tags and t-shirts.
Owner Marc Fomby is an area native and made the decision to expand his Mississippi business with a location near home, which also provides hats, signs, embroidery, and custom gifts.
Fomby said he developed a passion for the vanity plates over the years as he “changed tags every time I washed my car.”
“I went from buying tags to selling them,” he said.
Fomby had hoped to open a Christian bookstore with his brother, but that idea came to an end after he lost his brother in a tragic accident.
“I met a gentleman who told me about the tag business and his name was Frank just like my brother,” Fomby said. “He had one kit left that cost the exact same amount of money I had.”
His original store in Anniston was called “Frankie’s Place” in honor of his late brother. There is a space in the new location which honors both that first location and his late brother.
“It’s still something we always keep in our hearts,” Fomby said.
“We do appreciate you coming to Oxford,” said Mayor Alton Craft. “If there’s anything we can do to help, our doors are always open.”
Tags and More is open weekdays from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 2 pm. Until 6 p.m. The location is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
