Hiring Process
Contact the recruiter, who will provide information about the application requirements. Complete the application and provide the necessary documentation.
Upon submitting all required documentation to the City of Oxford Civil Service Board, the applicant will then take part in a PT test. Their requirements for the PT test are 22 push-ups in 60 seconds, 25 sit-ups in 60 seconds, and a 1.5-mile run in 15 minutes and 28 seconds.
After completing and passing the PT test, the police department administration will review the application to continue with the hiring process.
Benefits
All non-certified, sworn officers will start out at $22.37/hr
All pre-certified, sworn officers will start out at $23.50/hr (negotiable)

Applicants for the police officer position must
Be a United States citizen
Have a valid driver’s license
Be at least 19 years of age
Have a high school diploma or GED
Not have been convicted of any felony, or any misdemeanor which precludes you from possessing a firearm
Must complete the ACT WorkKeys Assessment (this excludes applicants with a four-year degree or higher)
