About 20 miles from the Georgia/Alabama border, you’ll find the Alabama Dish Outlet, a hidden gem that’s located in Oxford, Alabama.

Co-owner of the Alabama Dish Outlet, Margo Brooks, spoke with the city of Oxford’s marketing team on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Margo told us that she and her husband opened the business back in 2015.

“It’s just a hobby gone wild,” Margo said.

She started collecting Fiesta dishware as a hobby. Margo would set up vendor booths in antique malls and travel to different dish shows.

“It’s fun. I just like doing it, and I like seeing people’s reactions when they walk in here,” Margo said. Her husband had the idea of opening a store.

The small family-owned business showcases a varied assortment of vibrant glassware, pottery, and china in an array of sizes, shapes, and hues.

Margo joked that the store is “organized chaos.” With every turn, you find new things.

The Alabama Dish Outlet stocks 95% Made in the USA merchandise, including Fiesta dinnerware, Kit-Cat Clocks, Bentley drinkware, Blenko glass, and more. 

“We strive to keep USA-made products in the store. We’re 95% Fiesta, and we are factory direct on everything we have in the store from all sorts of businesses,” Margo told us.

With over fifteen years of buying, they have Fiesta items and colors that are no longer made, first-quality Fiesta as well as seconds. They carry all sorts of items and things that you do not see in big box stores—anything from pottery, china, and art glass to new and old stock of Fostoria glasses.

“We try to have something for everyone,” Margo said.

Restaurants from all over the southeast buy dishware from them. 

They also house a wall of collectible items that are discontinued or retired.

Fiesta dinnerware is their #1 selling item. It is Made in the USA, oven-safe up to 500 degrees, microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe, and refrigerator-and freezer-safe.

“We have people from everywhere. We have people come in from Missouri, Pennsylvania, Florida- everywhere. I have people come in from Colorado,” Margo said.

Alabama Dish Outlet is a popular stop for travelers. They will visit the store on their way to various destinations.

The store will also ship to customers anywhere in the continental US.
