OPD Chief Partridge addresses Chamber Law Enforcement Forum
May 23, 2025
Oxford Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Bill Partridge addressed the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Law Enforcement Forum held Friday, May 23, 2025, at the Oxford Civic Center.
Partridge was joined on the dais by other Calhoun County city chiefs of police, Sheriff Fallon Hurst, and District Attorney Lynn Hammond, who each took to the podium to describe the state of law enforcement in their individual communities and agencies throughout the county.
All spoke of the unity of purpose and cooperation in carrying out their duties to protect the citizens of the area.
“This event allows us the opportunity to keep our communities informed and updated,” Partridge said.
Partridge said the crime rate in Oxford has continued a downward trend through 2024.
“This is a testament to our law enforcement officers and the efforts of our community,” Partridge said. “Your vigilance, support, and active participation in crime prevention help play a huge role in achieving this positive outcome.”
He also noted the success of the East Metro Crime Center in effectively making neighborhoods safer for all.
“Our digital forensics unit has made remarkable strides in enhancing community safety,” Partridge said. “Through their diligent work, we have successfully removed child predators from our region and demonstrated our resolve to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.”
“The group of people on this dais work really well together,” he added. “If something happens in one of our cities, it’s not ‘Do you need us?’, it’s ‘Where do you need us?’”
