Oxford is open for business

The city of Oxford continues to add to the list of small businesses, companies, and industries that have opted to do business in the city.

With sites ranging from two industrial parks to historic downtown buildings, Oxford has developed a history of assistance and investment when it comes to expanding the city’s economy in a constructive and positive way.

In 2024 alone, Oxford issued 142 new business licenses and held 35 ribbon cuttings/ groundbreakings as private business owners showed their enthusiasm for downtown by opening nine new downtown businesses and contributing $157,055 in renovations, signage, and improvements.

A thriving and expanding industrial base added 900 new jobs, being fed by responsible incentives and a growing available local workforce under development by the new CREATE Center.

The Oxford Exchange has established itself as a prominent retail hub in the region, while the renovated Quintard Mall is making positive progress in helping to revitalize the economic landscape of the downtown area.

“We try to be friendly to businesses by condensing the process into one package,” said Mayor Alton Craft. “That is a benefit to us because with most doing retail, that puts tax dollars into our coffers, makes us successful, and that is why our support does not stop once their doors are open for business.”

The city of Oxford fosters an attractive, business-friendly environment, creating job opportunities and generating revenue. This approach enables the maintenance of low tax rates and offers an extensive range of city services, which many other cities cannot match. As a result, Oxford has become Alabama at its best!
