The Oxford Community Chorus performed its annual holiday concert at the Oxford Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
During an hour-long program narrated by OPAC executive director John Longshore, the 73-voice choir and 24-piece orchestra performed both majestic and joyous songs of the season, ranging from the pioneer hymn “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” to Barbra Streisand’s classic, fun arrangement of “Jingle Bells.”
This year’s ensemble represented the largest chorus yet assembled and, at the concert’s conclusion, director Don Gober faced a standing ovation from a record-breaking audience of nearly 1,000 with an appreciative wave, explaining there was no more prepared music to perform.
The Oxford Community Chorus will have more music to perform as they prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in 2026 with a patriotic concert scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at OPAC beginning at 7 p.m.
Rehearsals for this special concert will be on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. beginning on February 10, 2025, at OPAC. All current and former chorus members, and other vocalists who would like to be a part, are warmly invited to become a part of one of Oxford’s treasured traditions.
