Oxford VEX Robotics competition shifts into action

The Oxford VEX Robotics 2025 Fall competition began its two-day run on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the CREATE Center.

Thirty-one teams of middle and high school students from Alabama and Georgia brought their equipment, talents, and creativity as they geared up on the first day in search of a championship banner in the V5 Robotics division.

Oxford City Schools Superintendent Dr. Shannon Stanley gave the official welcome on behalf of Mayor Alton Craft and the city of Oxford to the students prior to the start of the competition.

“We are very excited to host this regional event because it is so important we get to know each other and work together,” Stanley said. “This is something you all have in common and hopefully you will make connections with other students that you can hold onto through high school and college. Take this opportunity to enjoy the competition, but also enjoy getting to know new people.”

The second day of competition on Friday, November 21, will host 27 teams of elementary students from across Alabama and Georgia in the VEX IQ Robotics competition.

The public is welcome to attend the competitions free of charge at the CREATE Center, or can watch the livestream on the OHS Jacket Media YouTube channel.

The 2026 Winter competitions are scheduled for January 22 and 23, 2026, and will be held at the Oxford Civic Center.
