Above and Beyond Interiors opened its doors to its 429 Main Street location on Thursday, December 4, 2025, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Above and Beyond Interiors offers design innovations using their curated collections that can transform spaces into visionary havens, breaking away from traditional norms.

Interior designer Lily Carter said she has had a passion for turning spaces into reflections of personality and style for as long as she can remember.

“I enjoy working closely with my clients to take their stories, needs, and dreams and turn them into beautiful functional spaces,” Carter said. “Creating environments that feel like home is what we care about here at Above and Beyond.”

Mayor Alton Craft said the opening “was a very proud moment for me” noting the occasion was much like being with family as Carter is the daughter of Oxford event coordinator Lamar Carter.

“We appreciate you keeping this business in Oxford, and our city is always here to help new businesses in any way we can,” Craft said.

Carter thanked all her family and friends who have helped her on the path to opening her own business.

“I especially thank the city of Oxford for all the support they give to small businesses,” Carter said. “Downtown is growing and I am grateful to be part of it.”

She also thanked the person she calls her mentor, Patsy McKinney, who was there to watch the changing of ownership for the business she started.

“She has been a great mentor for the last three years,” Carter said of McKinney. “I wouldn’t be here without her.”

McKinney said she started the business with only $25, believing in Ephesians 3:20 which says God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that one could ask or imagine according to His will and glory.

“The fact that Lily is taking over is an answer to that,” McKinney said.

Above and Beyond Interiors offers multiple design options including Physical Concept, where you can touch, see, and feel the elements of your future space; Digital Concept, which can bring your dream space into life; and Full-Service Design providing the experience of having every detail handled from concept to completion.
