Jonathan Jones and his wife, Alex, have transformed the house at 700 Hale Street into a welcoming cottage for family, friends, and new visitors to make themselves at home while visiting Oxford and staying in its historic downtown area.

“We are very excited you have taken this former home and given it new life here in historic downtown Oxford,” said Historic Main Street Oxford director Hunter Gentry during the ribbon-cutting for the cottage on Friday, December 5, 2025.

This home features a lovely kitchen with tons of cabinetry, recently updated with new countertops, and all stainless steel appliances, including the refrigerator, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. It is stocked with plenty of plates and cooking utensils. A nice dining area with a table with four chairs is located just off the kitchen area.

Both bedrooms have queen beds. All bedrooms have their own smart TVs and plenty of storage space for those with extended stays.

There is plenty of seating in the living room, which is furnished with a couch, two side chairs, a coffee table, and a large 55-inch smart TV.

The exterior features two beautiful covered porches with outdoor seating, plus a two-car carport for covered parking. There is also street parking if needed and a privacy fence.

“You have taken this and turned it into something that makes everybody proud,” said Mayor Alton Craft.

“We live in Oxford. I work in Oxford. And, I’m now proud to have this in Oxford,” Jones said. “I am always proud to support our community. There is so much Oxford has to offer, and so I’m proud to welcome people here when they come to visit our Airbnb.”
