Oxford Health Systems cuts the ribbon on new primary care/wellness facility

Oxford Health Systems cuts the ribbon on new primary care/wellness facility

Oxford Health Systems has opened a new primary care/wellness clinic and is currently accepting patients at its 1102 Luttrell Street location. The new clinic was given a special welcome to the community with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Oxford Health Systems Primary Care/Wellness is unique in offering a dual focus on primary care services, health and wellness, including annual physicals, minor injuries, managing chronic illness, as well as proactive wellness services which include IV hydration therapy, GLP-1 and peptide therapy, Botox and medical aesthetics, and InBody body composition analysis.

The new clinic is also unique in its role in augmenting the city’s emergency health services. Revenue generated from Oxford Health Systems Primary Care/Wellness helps offset the cost of providing emergency medical services to the city of Oxford through Oxford Health Systems Paramedics.

Mayor Alton Craft appreciated the work of the members of the Health Authority of Oxford in improving much-needed access to health care.

“This idea came from [Executive Director of Health & CEO of Oxford Health Systems]

Tom Dixon, who is always thinking outside the box,” Craft said. “This is very good for our community. I can’t say enough about the health care needs of our community, and I want to congratulate Tom and his staff on this accomplishment. This means so much to Oxford.”

Calhoun County Commissioner Danny Shears called it “another proud day to be a citizen of Oxford.”

“You just don’t find something like this anywhere,” Shears said. “It speaks to the forward-thinking of the Health Care Authority and Tom Dixon.”

Dixon said this is only the beginning of major improvements and healthcare opportunities that will soon become available.

“The one thing that kept coming up in conversation when the Health Care Authority was formed was the need for better health care – not just from an ambulance service – but also hospital services, primary care, and specialty care. These are things you don’t find easy access to in an urban/metro area like ours,” Dixon said. “We currently have plans in place and are actively working on those plans for any primary care service we offer to be affiliated with a much larger health system that can provide specialty care for patients who need referrals. Those announcements will be coming after the first of the year about some big things coming to Oxford related to health care.”

The clinic is now open Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can also be scheduled by calling 256-470-9998. Plans are in place to expand services to 7 days a week, starting in January. Most insurance providers are accepted.
