Oxford VEX Robotics competition off and running

Oxford VEX Robotics competition off and running

The Oxford VEX Robotics competition is now underway at the Oxford Civic Center.

A total of 79 teams will compete during the event, which will be held Thursday, January 22, and Friday, January 23.

Thursday’s competition will present 35 middle and high school teams competing in the VEX V5 level. That includes seven teams from CREATE and two teams from Oxford Middle School.

Friday’s competition will involve 44 elementary and middle school teams competing in the VEX IQ level, including five teams from Oxford Middle School.

“This is a great event because it is a unique event,” said Parks and Recreation director Don Hudson. “We have people from all over the area showing off their skills. It is also a competition which is good for our students who are interested in developing these new technologies. It’s a great event for the city of Oxford.”

Competition runs each day from 9 a.m. until the awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but seating is limited.

The competition can also be viewed on the Oxford High School Jackets Media YouTube channel.
