‘Oxford On the Move’ study results announced

‘Oxford On the Move’ study results announced

The city of Oxford has announced the results of the “Oxford on The Move: A Plan for Bike and Pedestrian Route” study. The results were revealed during a special council session on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Oxford City Hall.

David Coggin of Sain Associates reviewed the findings from the study which were developed by way of public input received from surveys and a public forum. These outlets allowed citizens to make note of where they currently walk and bike, and where they would like to have the same type of access.

The vision and goals of the study were to evaluate opportunities for bicycle and pedestrian connections on all local roadways in the city of Oxford with potential connections throughout the city.

Scoggin told the city council the plan is “a roadmap for improving the bicycle and pedestrian network within the city.”

The study identifies potential connectivity routes throughout the city, with a primary focus on linking Historic Downtown Oxford to Oxford Lake Park and extending to Choccolocco Park.

The city council will now review the plans before deciding on formal adoption, which will put plans in place once funding becomes available.

The full study and maps are available for public review here.
