Veterans from across the area crowded the Oxford Public Library for the Veterans Resource Fair and Claims Clinic held Friday, March 6, 2026.
More than 30 vendors were on hand with information and assistance designed for veterans in categories ranging from financial services to health issues. Officials with the Veterans Administration were also present to assist with benefit claims issues.
“It’s amazing how many we have seen come through,” said Tammie Cash of Edwin Mortgage. “It’s been full since they opened the doors. They’ve even had to put some of the tables closer together.”
Meredith McCrorie and John Seagle with Birmingham VA Health Care Systems said they have been to Oxford several times for events like this and “enjoy coming here.”
“It has been very busy with so much to see,” Seagle said. “There are presentations for mental health, homeless programs, primary care, auditory issues. It’s hard to see what is not here to help our veterans. Most importantly, we have come to be part of an intersection between the VA, veterans, and the Oxford community.”
“We are always there when we can help veterans,” said Don Richey with Elks Lodge 189 who served hot dogs and snacks to both veterans and vendors, even rolling a cart through the display room ensuring everyone had something to eat.
The event for veterans is just one of a consistently full calendar of events at the Oxford Public Library. For more information, their events calendar can be found at oxfordpl.org.
