Rock N Roll Sushi makes Oxford Exchange location official
By Brian Graves
April 7, 2026
Rock N Roll Sushi celebrated its official ribbon cutting at 254 Oxford Exchange Boulevard on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in an event sponsored by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.
Co-owners Chris Roberts and Neal Gibbs originally opened the doors in December, and have since grown an audience for the menu of traditional sushi with bold twists in a restaurant featuring in-house sauces and a rock music décor.
“Neal came to me about the idea, and it was my dream even after owning a restaurant in Gadsden to open one in Oxford,” Roberts said. “We were lucky enough to get this location and the people have been great. We love Oxford.”
“We love having you here,” said Mayor Alton Craft. “We appreciate all the hard work you have put into this great location.”
The current top-seller is the V.I.P. Roll, fried with a combination including shrimp tempura, and cream cheese, and baked with seasoned Cajun crawfish.
With well over 50 items on the menu, Roberts said there was a time when he decided to create something new for just himself and found it going viral.
“One I made for myself in Gadsden was called the Headbanger Roll,” Roberts said. “A customer saw it and asked what it was, then asked if I would make her one. We began having more and more people coming in asking for it.”
Roberts said he was attending a franchise conference when the brother of the company’s creator approached him and said people at the Trussville location were asking about those rolls in Gadsden.
“About a week later, I got a phone call, there was some guy who ordered one of those rolls and was tearing it apart and taking pictures,” Roberts said. “I get on the camera to look, and it’s the guy from Trussville’s manager who had driven down to find out what it was. There were even people from Tuscaloosa asking about it. It’s a really good roll.”
“All that we have is hand-made from top to bottom,” Roberts said.
The Oxford Exchange location joins a franchise that began in Mobile in 2010 and now numbers more than 60 locations, and Roberts said he hopes to be able to add to that number in the future.
The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Catering, takeout, and a kids’ menu are available. Online ordering is available at rocknrollsushi.com. The phone number is 256-403-0119.
