HMSO downtown cleanup adds some summer color

HMSO downtown cleanup adds some summer color

Historic Main Street Oxford’s second cleanup Saturday of the season also brought the addition of new plants for the downtown planters.

More than 30 gathered at Simmons Park on Saturday, April 11, 2026, to get their buckets, trash bags, litter bags, and plants, then spread out on a two-hour mission to keep Oxford beautiful.

The group was reinforced by a large contingent from His World Global Methodist Church, who arrived decked out in their custom-made fluorescent safety-green T-shirts.

Volunteering is a simple way to give back while connecting with others who care about keeping downtown looking its best. Whether you come on your own or bring a group, every helping hand makes a difference.

The next cleanup Saturday is set for May 9, organizing at Simmons Park, 400 Main Street, and working from 9-11 a.m. All supplies – gloves, garbage bags, litter grabbers, and buckets – are provided.
