Oxford Arts Council marks Liberty Park with Stars and Stripes

Oxford Arts Council marks Liberty Park with Stars and Stripes

The Oxford Arts Council, with assistance from the members of the DD Club, a young women’s service organization, placed American flags at each of the more than 100 markers at Liberty Park honoring veterans and community members who have made a significant mark on Oxford’s history.

Arts Council president Pat Jack said the organization has made it one of its primary missions each year to ensure the memories of those represented at the park are recognized each Memorial Day, and that is done with the Arts Council providing the flags that adorn the markers for this significant day of the year.

She especially wanted to thank the DD pledges who made helping with the flag placements part of their service to the community. They are: Peyton Wesson and Lyla Wesson representing Donoho School, and Georgia Gaither, Anarie Wilson, and Tori Mims representing Oxford High School.
