Freedom Fest Car Show kicks off Oxford’s America 250th celebration

Freedom Fest Car Show kicks off Oxford’s America 250th celebration

More than 90 classic cars revved their engines and popped their hoods in a salute to America’s 250th at the sixth annual Freedom Fest Car Show, held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Oxford Civic Center.

The Oxford Parks and Recreation event, led by Kip Chappell with assistance from PARD events manager Ashley Bias, was made even more special as all the proceeds totaling more than $1,500 went to help fund Oxford’s “A League of Our Own” sports program.

Kaitlyn Funk, the reigning Miss Oxford Volunteer, opened the day with her rendition of the National Anthem, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Peter “Pete the Patriot” Leavitt. DJ Keith Word provided the day’s musical soundtrack.

Many of the car owners walked away with major door prizes donated by several local businesses.

Judges scored the top 10 cars, and the First Place plaque was awarded to a Thunderbird owned by Jerry Calhoun of Oxford.

Cars will crowd the Oxford Civic Center again on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when PARD hosts the second annual Hallo-Wheels Car Show, with proceeds from that event again designated to cover all the costs of the Civic Center’s Halloween party for area youngsters, making it free of charge for kids and parents.
