PARD Wraps up 2026 Co-ed Church League Tournament

PARD Wraps up 2026 Co-ed Church League Tournament

Oxford Parks and Recreation completed its annual Co-ed Church League Tournament at the Oxford Lake Park ballparks on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Eleven teams traveled from their respective sanctuaries to the ball fields in search of competition, fellowship, fun, and the thrill of victory.

The teams competing were Cornerstone Baptist Church of Anniston, Parker Memorial Baptist Church (Dearmanville Campus) of Anniston, Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Anniston, Church of the Highlands of Oxford, Eagle Point Church of Jacksonville, Word Center of Oxford, Plum Springs Baptist Church of Eastaboga, Greenbriar Road Baptist Church of Anniston, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Anniston, Mountain View Church of Anniston, and Redeemer Church of Oxford.

Church of the Highlands was able to overtake Mt. Zion in the final game for the “A” division.

Marcus Harrell, part of the Church of the Highlands worship team, said their team’s participation was an outreach of what the church tries to do.

“This has been a great season with a lot of fellowship and fun with each other, with a lot of new relationships made,” Harrell said. “We’ve had people who have been baptized this season. Everyone has shared stories with each other and lifted each other up. It’s been a lot of fun.”

Greenbriar Road held off Mountain View to grab the “B” division victory.

Drew Ford, a new member of Greenbriar Road, said the experience was well worth it.

“It was a battle,” Ford said. “We had a pretty long losing streak early on, with a lot of adversity. But that’s a lot like life. There are hills and valleys, and we put it together when it mattered. You have the valleys and the mountaintop. This was our mountaintop.”
