The CREATE Center played host to a regional hiring fair on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

This unique workforce event brought together students, job seekers, employers, and workforce partners from across the region. CREATE, Workforce Alabama, the Calhoun County Economic Development Council, Gadsden State Community College, and the Calhoun County Area Chamber of Commerce were the event’s major sponsors.

The event began with a CREATE student job fair, connecting students with employers and giving them the opportunity to explore local career pathways. The afternoon then transitioned into a regional hiring event, opening the doors to job seekers from across the area and connecting them directly with employers looking to grow their workforce.

More than 100 students had the opportunity during the first hour to visit with the forty area businesses who came to educate as well as hire. Those businesses included Kronospan, Wellborn Cabinets, Webb Concrete and Building Materials, and AOD Credit Union.

“We’ve found most of the students who came through today have already made a career choice,” said Christie Ryan of Workforce Alabama. “With our career center system, we are here to help guide if they need any assistance in what direction they want to take.”

The students were followed by several adults who had waited in their cars, portfolios in hand, waiting for the general public portion of the hiring event to begin.

“The thing that has been unique about having this at CREATE is that we could help students one-on-one and give them a chance to see what is going on in this area,” Ryan said. “This also lets the public know this facility is available for them, their children, and the adult classes that are offered at night. This is a fabulous facility.”
