Hubbard's 10th Anniversary

Hubbard's 10th Anniversary

Hubbard’s On Main celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Dec. 12, 2003, with a free chocolate birthday cake and a big “thank you” from the owner to all of her loyal patrons.

Charlotte Hubbard recalled the days after her brother’s music store closed and saw the need to do something that could help the downtown area.

The business became so successful three years after opening that Hubbard enlarged the restaurant to the empty space next door and improved a rear patio space, and business has been booming ever since.

Hubbard’s On Main was recently featured in Alabama Living Magazine, noting its “Southern flair in a historical setting.”

The special day brought many customers out to help celebrate along with friends, family, and city officials.

“We’ve lived through some really tough times, including COVID,” Hubbard said. “But we are fortunate to have a strong customer base that keeps coming.”

Mayor Alton Craft thanked Hubbard for what she has done and “what she has meant to the community.”

“Charlotte is now a household name,” Craft said. “We have people from all over the country who come here, and one of the things they want to know is where to find Hubbard’s On Main.”

Craft said the restaurant has also aided in the growth of the downtown area, “bringing a level of food service to the downtown area we have not had in 90 years.”
