More than 60 baseball and softball teams are in Oxford to compete in the 2025 Alabama High School Athletic Association championship tournaments.
Opening ceremonies were held Monday, May 12, 2025, on Signature Field at Choccolocco Park for the series of games that will be played daily through Friday, May 16.
“We are excited to be here in Oxford,” said Heath Harmon, AHSAA executive director. “We want to offer a big ‘Thank You’ to Mayor Alton Craft, the city of Oxford, and Choccolocco Park. We’re going to have a great tournament.”
Mayor Craft offered a special welcome and encouraged visitors to Oxford to take advantage of all the city has to offer in dining, shopping, and attractions.
Oxford Parks and Recreation director Don Hudson was given the honor to throw the first pitch, which he did straight down the middle and over home plate.
Carla Jones, community paramedic program coordinator for Oxford Health Systems, offered a stirring rendition of the National Anthem, after which the announcer gave the order to “Let’s play ball!”
