Oxford Senior Citizens go on location for summer cookout

Some of Oxford’s seasoned citizens took advantage of a field trip to Oxford Lake for a summer cookout sponsored by the Oxford Senior Citizens Center on Monday, June 2, 2025.
These area residents enjoyed the great weather conditions and grilled hot dogs with all the fixings, wearing their new, yellow Senior Center/Yellow Jacket t-shirts.
The cookout was also a way for those who enjoy the amenities provided by the Senior Center to offer a “Thank You” to others who assist in providing services.
“We also invite the people who help us out, including our vendors, maintenance, and city staff,” said center director Hal West. “This is a way to combine some outdoor fun for our citizens and provide a chance for them to personally thank all those who make what the center does possible.”
The cookout is just one of many events planned each year by the staff of the Oxford Senior Citizens Center, which is located at 424 Main Street. Those interested in getting involved can visit the center weekdays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. or call 256-831-5900.
