Participants in Oxford’s A League of Our Own are having the chance to swap out their baseball experience at their own field for a different experience at the soccer fields of Choccolocco Park.
The unique program allowing those with special needs to participate in sports is nearing the end of a three-Saturday run where volunteers assist in forming teams and giving the players the joys of competition, teamwork, and making new friends.
This soccer camp series focuses on all aspects of the game, including shooting/scoring, dribbling, passing, and ball control, with all four teams taking the skills learned and playing in an actual game.
Volunteers and donations have aided in providing coaching, outfits, water, and snacks for the players, and Choccolocco Park parking is free to all who want to attend and cheer on the players.
The final soccer day is Saturday, September 27, 2025, with activities beginning at 9 a.m.
